Armed robbers attacked Equity Bank Matuu Branch, Machakos County in the mid-morning hours of Tuesday.
Reports indicate that three armed robbers stormed the bank in the 15-minute daring robbery.
According to sources who spoke to nairobileo.co.ke, the robbers managed to disarm the officers manning the bank at the entrance.
Confirming the incident, Yatta Police Commander Mary Njoki stated that the thugs initially paused as clients before firing in the air.
Njoki added that they had opened investigations to establish how much money was stolen.

“For about 15 minutes there was a heavy gunfight between our officers and the thieves who later managed to escape. One of the thieves was shot but managed to escape,” she added.

Social media reports urged residents of Matuu to avoid the area around the bank due to the rapid exchange of gunfire between the authorities and the bank robbers.
