The Senate has impeached Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko with a majority vote.
The Senate upheld the decision by the Nairobi County Assembly that saw 88 MCAs out of 122 in favour of the ouster motion.
Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka stated the four main charges namely; gross violation of the constitution and other laws, abuse of office, gross misconduct, and crimes under national law.
On the first count of Gross Abuse of the Constitution of Kenya, 27 senators voted in favor of the motion, 16 no while two senators abstained.
The voting pattern was replicated on all other charges preferred against Mike Sonko.
