Police have arrested 23-year-old Blaise Wafula for impersonating Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua’s wife Dorcas Rigathi.
Wafula is said to have created 14 fake Facebook accounts where he would send messages to social media users promising them quick loans at a fee of Ksh 700 and an extra Ksh 2500 as security.
The suspect is alleged to have recruited his girlfriend who worked as a secretary, communicated with the interested individuals, and explained the registration process to them.
According to the police report, the impersonator promised interested individuals loans of between Ksh 1,000 and Ksh 200,000.

The culprit’s secretary was the first to be arrested after police detectives tracked her down in Nangili, Kakamega County on Sunday, January 8.
The main suspect was caught hours later at a liquor joint in Soy, Uasin Gishu.
“We arrested the suspect alongside nine other gang members,” police said.
The detectives recovered the phone that was being used in the scheme and confirmed that over Ksh 100,000 was in the M-Pesa account.
The main suspect and his girlfriend were taken to Nairobi and are set to be arraigned in court for obtaining money by false pretense and impersonation.
