Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday evening had an emotional reunion with his High School teacher Julius Kano Ndumbi.
In a statement after the meeting, the Deputy President the former teacher was a man who mentored and prepared him for leadership.
Kano was the headmaster of Kianyaga High School where Gachgaua pursued his o-levels from 1978 to 1983.
"The man was a strict disciplinarian. Tough. Loving. Wise. A father figure and a role model. I had an emotional reunion with my mentor last evening when he called on me at Harambee House Annex, Nairobi. I had the opportunity to thank him for the role he played in preparing me for leadership," Gachagua stated.

The Deputy President asked Kenyans to always be grateful and appreciate their teachers for the roles they played in their lives.
"I am always grateful to those who mentored me in one way or another and played a significant role in shaping me and preparing me for leadership and for the future. My teachers, from the early stages of learning, are such people I treasure," he said.
Present during the meeting was Gachagua's classmate and friend Maina Giandaru.
He said the classmate has remained his friend since their time in High School to date.
