Political parties tribunal sitting in Nairobi on Friday stopped the suspension of Kanu secretary general Nick Salat pending the hearing of the matter.
The ruling was made after Salat moved to the court to protest his suspension.
" That pending inter parties hearing of the application, interim conservatory orders are hereby issued staying the implementation of the 2nd Respondent’s letter dated 15th December 2022 suspending the Applicant as the Secretary General of the Party given under my hand and seal of the Honourable Tribunal this 20th day of January 2023," reads the stay orders.
Desma Nungo, Chairperson of the Political Parties Disputes Tribunal ( PPDT) said the notice of motion application on January 19, 2023, was filed under Certificate of Urgency for consideration ex-parte in this first instance only.

The Kenya African National Union (KANU) party on December 15, 2022, suspended Salat as its Secretary-General.
In a letter by the party leader and Former Baringo Senator, Moi said the party had resolved to dismiss Salat owing to allegations of misconduct.
A disciplinary committee was at the same time tasked with probing the conduct of the embattled official.
