Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko has said he is not keen on securing any appointment in President William Ruto's government.
Speaking in Machakos on Friday, January 20, Sonko said he would support the government from the sidelines despite other Kenya Kwanza politicians being rewarded plum posts.
This he said while blasting the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Pary politicians for bringing up claims that August 9, 2022, General Election was rigged in favour of Ruto.
Sonko said that his role would be to protect the government against such vitriol from the opposition luminaries.
"Kenyans went into elections in August last year. IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati announced Ruto as the elected president. The Supreme Court upheld his win. Azimio chairman Uhuru Kenyatta then handed over power to him. These other antics are treasonous.

"I don't need a government job because I have one. My work is to protect the president and his government. Anyone bringing up unnecessary issues I will be dealing with them," said Sonko.
In the recent past, politicians from the opposition have been claiming the presidential vote was rigged in favour of the president.
As per the electoral commission, Ruto garnered 7.1 million votes to be declared the duly elected president.
His longstanding rival Raila Odinga trailed with 6.9 million votes.
Led by the Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni, the leaders claimed that the Azimio la Umoja leader won the vote before the results were manipulated.
Speaking during a press conference on Wednesday, January 18, the former Ndaragwa MP alleged that Raila Odinga won the election with 8.1 million votes while President William Ruto got 5.9 million votes.
“What has been verified so far shows that Raila won the election with 8,170,355 votes representing 57.53 percent of the votes cast. Ruto got 5,915,973 votes representing 41.66 percent of the votes cast,” Kioni stated.
He also alleged that most of the manipulation took place in the Mt Kenya region according to research done by Vanguard Africa, a non-profit organization that partners with leaders in Africa.
“Most of the manipulation that was done happened within the Mt.Kenya region,” Kioni added.
He further stated that Azimio leader Raila Odinga will give a comprehensive statement when he comes back.
