President William Ruto has revoked the appointment of Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga’s ally Omar Boga as the Coast Water Works Development Agency board chairman.
In a gazette notice dated Wednesday, February 1, President Ruto appointed Daniel Katama Mwaringa to replace Boga for the next one year.
“In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 (3) of the State Corporations Act, as read together with section 66 (1) (a) and (b) of the Water Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint — (i) Daniel Katama Mwaringa, as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of Coast Water Works Development Agency, with effect from the 1st February, 2023, up to 25th February, 2024,” the notice read.
The Head of State also appointed Hafswa Abdalla Dele, Judith Wabosha Mwamburi, and Mohamed Masoud Mwahima as board members of the agency.

Former Water Cabinet Secretary Sicily Kariuki had appointed Boga in February 2021 for a period of 3 years.
The position fell vacant after the demise of former Kilifi South MP Mustafa Idd in 2020.
Boga came to the limelight after he unsuccessfully vied for the Msambweni Constituency by-election in 2020 under the ODM Party.
In another gazette notice, Water, Sanitation, and Irrigation Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome revoked the appointment of Macharia Kariuki, Livingstone Indiete, Hesbon Odumbe (Eng.), Edward Kobuthi, as members of the Board of Directors of the Water Services Regulatory Board.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 71 (1) (b) of the Water Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretations and General Provisions Ad, the Cabinet Secretary for Water, Sanitation and Irrigation revokes the appointment of — Macharia Kariuki, Livingstone Indiete, Hesbon Odumbe (Eng.), Edward Kobuthi, as members of the Board of Directors of the Water Services Regulatory Board. Dated the 1st February 2023," the notice stated.
