Former Baringo Senator Gideon Moi on Friday, February 10 held a meeting with the KANU National Executive Committee (NEC) in Mombasa.
In an update on Twitter after the meeting, Gideon Moi stated that the independence party would continue to play a role within the opposition.

His statement comes a day after Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga directed non-loyal MPs in the opposition camp to resign and seek a fresh mandate from the electorate.
"The Members of Parliament who defected need to resign and go, and seek a fresh mandate from the electorate," Raila ordered.
The former Prime Minister castigated the ODM MPs who met President Ruto on Tuesday saying that they do not need the executive to get developments in their constituencies.
“Members of Parliament are approaching the executive supposedly for development in their constituencies. Under the current constitutional dispensation, the resources are being allocated by parliament. Parliament is the one that the executive comes with a budget proposal, parliament looks at it and then agrees on how to allocate resources,” Raila stated.
He further noted that Azimio members should seek permission from the coalition leadership before meeting the President.
“If you want to go and talk about issues that affect the party you must be given permission by the party before you go to see the President,” Raila added.
