Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions in Nairobi and seven other counties on Thursday, August 7.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, August 6, the company said the power outages which will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. in most areas, are part of planned maintenance works.

In Nairobi County, several parts will experience a day-long blackout, including portions of Waiyaki Way, Loresho, and Kangemi. 

Areas set to be affected include Mountain View Estate, Kabete Technical Training Institute, N Market, Thiongo Road, the whole of Kangemi, the Communication Authority of Kenya (CAK), Kianda School, Nairobi Water, Musa Gitau Road, part of Kaptagat Road, Vet Lab and Chinese Factories.

The Sugar Board, KEVEVAPI, Qaribu Inn Hotel, Loresho Ridge, and Loresho Spring Estates among other adjacent customers. Quick Mart Waiyaki Way, Shell Waiyaki Way, and Silicon Craft are also listed among affected customers.

In Kajiado County, power will be off from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in Kiserian, particularly in areas along Pipeline Road, including Olorien, Dawamu School, Emasho, Sholinke, Rock Field School, Farmers, Citam Kadolta and surrounding areas.

In Kericho County, residents near Laliat Quarry and surrounding areas in Ainamoi Sub-County will be affected. 

The outage will impact Ainamoi Sub-District Hospital, Chepisom Market, Ketitui Market, Ainamoi Market, Ogirgir Toror, Taiwet Tea Factories and adjacent customers.

In Nyeri County, power interruptions are expected in Kamacharia and Kamune. 

The blackout will affect Kamacharia Market, Kamune Market, Iruri Market, Thuita Market, Kagumoini Coffee Factory, Mananga Market, Kora Market, Kandabibi Market, Gaithunu, Riakiberu Coffee Factory and other neighboring areas.

In Meru County, a wide area will face blackouts, particularly in Thimangiri, Giaki, and Kwa Ng’ombe. 

Affected areas include Marvis Petroleum Ltd, Againe, Kiambogo Coffee Factory, Imenti North Muslim Girls, Mulanthakari Market, Mulanthakari Girls, Thimangiri, Thuura Coffee Factory, Kauthene Market, Nkoobo Coffee Factory, Munithu Primary, Mukugurukia and Ndekero Village.

Kambi ya Nyanyua, Ndurumo, Kamukara, Meru Brook School, Rwanyange, Mbeu Market, Kathirune Market, Giaki Market, Nthamiri Market, Kabaune Shopping Centre, Ciothirai Police Station, Ciothirai Village, Gachua Market, Mbuuta Primary School, CCM, Iria Riamanthuka Primary School and adjacent customers will also be affected.

In Mombasa County, parts of Kizingo will be affected. 

Residents and institutions including Aga Khan Hospital Mombasa, SDA Church Kizingo, Shenhai Restaurant, and the Mombasa Women’s Association will be without power from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

In Kwale County, power will be cut off along Diani Beach Road, affecting major establishments such as Carrefour, Swahili Beach, Diani Shopping Centre, Diani Sea Resort, Chandarana and surrounding areas.

In Tana River County, areas in Hola, Bura, Wenje, and Masalani will experience a shorter blackout scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
