Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has blamed organizers of the National Covid-19 Conference for the non-attendance of the Deputy President William Ruto.
According to the city politician, DP Ruto was never invited to the conference that was preceded over by President Uhuru Kenyatta at KICC.
Omanga accused the even organizers of making a last-minute decision to have the DP's seat at the event after intentionally leaving him out of the plans.
"When planning for COVID-19 response mechanisms they neither invited DP William Ruto nor did they offer him a seat. After messing up and they need someone articulate they offered him a seat at the National COVID-19 conference. And you expected him to attend? NEVER!," stated Omanga.
In her view, the Deputy President was justified not having attended the event given the issues surrounding the containment of the pandemic.
Ruto was largely a spectator in major decision making on the pandemic and his troops have been bashing the state for alleged loss of Covid-19 funds at the ministry of health.
Ruto was among those who were to attend the function alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta and other government officials.
President Kenyatta arrived at KICC at around 2:20pm and all was now clear that his deputy was a no-show.
