The late Governor John Nyagarama’s body has arrived in Nyamira for his funeral service and burial later today.
The police plane ferrying the body of the late Nyagarama landed at Riamanoti Primary School grounds and was received by family, friends and residents of Nyamira County.
Top leaders from across the country are expected to attend the funeral service.
The late Nyagarama is being accorded a state funeral.
President Uhuru Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto and other prominent persons visited the family over the past week and condoled with them for their loss.
Governor Nyagarama died over the past weekend after staying in hospital for close to three weeks.
Reports indicate that he died due to Covid-19 related complications.
Prior to his death, Nyagarama was serving his final term as governor having been first elected in 2013.
Previously, he had unsuccessfully contested the West Mugirango Parliamentary seat for two elections.
