South Mugirango MP Silvanus Osoro has urged President William Ruto to be lenient on former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i.
Speaking in Kisii on Friday during the homecoming fete of Education CS Ezekiel Machogu, Osoro said Matiang'i was misused by the previous administration and that it was time the past is forgotten.
"Please your excellency on the behalf of our brother (Matiang'i) we ask for forgiveness. We understand he was misused by the previous administration," said Osoro.
The lawmaker acknowledged the president for rewarding Kisii natives with government posts despite the ills meted on him by the former CS.
Osoro said the Abagusii community had pledged to back the government as it delivers on its agenda.

At the same time, Kisii Governor Simba Arati has advised President William Ruto not to bother with the Azimio anti-government protests.
Arati told the Head of State to look at the protests from afar.
“Your excellence wewe ni rais wa Jamuhuri ya Kenya, na unajua sasa uko kule juu, watu wakinyoroshana hapa chini wakifanya maandamano wewe angalia kutoka mbali,” said Arati.
The ODM Governor at the same time differed with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua retired leaders from the region being given state jobs.
Arati urged President Ruto to instead hand the jobs to the youth who are the majority.
“Hawa wazee Ongwae na Jimmy Ongwae wamekula chumvi kuna vijana wadogo tafadhali. Tuko tayari kupea hawa wazeekitu kidogo wanunue dawa lakini kazi ambayo utahitaji kwa miaka tano ndio uchaguliwe tena pea vijana,” Arati added.
