Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has directed a high-level team of investigators to investigate the murder of two people in Chuka Town, Tharaka Nithi County.
One of the deceased was shot dead on Saturday, April 8 during protests in Chuka Town while the second person died last week after being attacked by unknown assailants with Machetes.
In a statement on Saturday night, Kindiki stated that any person who will be found guilty of the deaths would face the course of Justice.
“Tonight, high- level investigative teams have been dispatched to Chuka Town to take over enquiry and recommend legal action on those found responsible for the death of one person last week as well as a second person shot dead during the demonstrations that caused the blocking of the Embu- Meru Highway most of the afternoon today.
"Any person(s) at whom evidence will point shall face the course of justice,” Kindiki stated.

He condoled with the families of the deceased and assured the locals that the investigations would be impartial.
“Condolences to the families and friends of the two deceased persons and to the affected communities. Residents are urged to remain calm and allow impartial investigations following which prosecution shall ensue,” he added.
