Former Muranga Governor Mwangi Wa Iria now threatens to lead anti-government demonstrations in the Mt Kenya region.
Speaking on Thursday, April 13 at Ufungamano Hall in Nairobi, Wa Iria stated that the Kenya Kwanza promised a lot of things to Mt Kenya residents which are yet to be delivered.
“Mnasema Mt Kenya haihusiki kwa maandamano, hiyo sio ukweli, sisi kwanza huangalia na tumepeana muda wa karibu mwaka mmoja, kuna ile ambayo tulielezewa na tukaeka kura, bei ya kahawa, majani chai, maziwa na mambo ingine mengi, hiyo yote hakuna mtu anaongelelea.
“Maandamano yetu inakuja, and I will personality lead it kuhusu bei ya kahawa, majani chai, bei ya mkunga na wanabiashara wadogo,” he stated.

The former county boss claimed that the protests would surpass that of Azimio in Nairobi, as all farmers will come out in solidarity.
“Maandamano yetu haiwezi kufanywa kama ya Nairobi. Wakulima wote watatokea tuandamane kwa sababu shida ya kilomo cha Mt Kenya sio brokers ni kodi,” Wa Iria added.
This comes a day after the Usawa Party leader held a meeting with Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga in Nairobi.
The ODM party in an update on Wednesday stated that the two leaders discussed issues of national importance among them the parliamentary bi-partisan talks.
“Usawa Party Leader Mwangi Wa Iria today had breakfast with PL Raila Odinga at the latter’s Karen residence to discuss issues of national importance among them national dialogue and proposed parliamentary bipartisan discussions,” the update read.
