The former Prime Minister had called off the demonstrations on April 2 to allow the bi-partisan talks between the opposition and the government to take place. He however threatened to go back to the protests if the negotiations fail to meet his demands.
“In view of the foregoing, we stand down our demonstrations on Monday, April 3, 2023. We reserve our rights to call for demonstrations should this process fail to bear fruit, should there be no meaningful engagement or response from Hon Ruto our counteroffer is to continue with our demonstrations,” said Raila.
This comes after the Azimio la Umoja bi-partisan team accused their Kenya Kwanza counterparts of not being serious about the talks.
Addressing the media earlier the team led by Rarieda MP Otiende Amollo claimed they are concerned over the lack of progress from the Kenya Kwanza side who are yet to name their co-chair.
