Opposition leader Raila Odinga has hit out at ODM rebels urging them to resign and seek re-election on another party.
Speaking during celebrations to welcome Dabaso Ward MCA-elect Dickson Karani, Raila opined that politicians who disagree with the sponsor parties should emulate his action in 1997 and resign if they believe that they have what it takes to win the seat using a different party.
Odinga blamed political intrigues in the country as the main hurdle when it comes to disciplining errant party members.
“We need to actually practice politics of principle, so that if you have disagreed with the party that sponsored you in elections, then the right thing to do is resign and seek re-election in another party.
“Nobody does this these days in this country, this is politics on hypocrisy which we don’t want, it is also the corruption of the election process. The Speaker should know what the Constitution says and provides,” Odinga said in part.
