Central Organization Of Trade Unions (COTU) Secretary General Francis Atwoli has claimed that retired President Uhuru Kenyatta is powerful and needs to be tamed.
Speaking on Saturday, April 29, Atwoli proposed the Constitution be amended to designate retired presidents the role of peacemaking once they finish their ten years tenure.
“In 2017 I warned you about Uhuru that he should be taken care of once he retires. He has a lot of money and cannot be left alone. We need to review the constitution and amend it so that once a President has finished his 10 years and retires he becomes a peacemaker,” said Atwoli.
The Trade unionist at the same time stated that Uhuru should stop taking political sides and reconcile President William Ruto with Azimio la Umoja leader Raila Odinga.
“Our retired President should be a peacemaker. Those of you asking me to reconcile President Ruto and Raila, that should be the work of Uhuru because once you retire as President you don’t need to take political sides, you should be a peacemaker in your country and an International peacemaker,” Atwoli added.

This comes days After Uhuru made an impromptu visit to Jubilee Party headquarters in Kileleshwa after clashes between Jeremiah Kioni and Kanini Kega supporters that forced police officers to intervene.
The former Head of State castigated police for lobbying teargas at Kioni’s supporters.
“You are throwing teargas at them so you can take the house by force that is not right,” Uhuru said.
