Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has stated that government pathologists will conduct an autopsy on Shakahola victims to establish whether their organs are missing.
Speaking on Monday, May 1 in Kilifi, Kindiki stated that if it's confirmed that the victims' organs are missing, the government would disclose the details for everyone to know.
“If any of the Shakahola victims have their organs missing we will tell the world. There is nothing we are hiding and that is the truth, we will have to find out why the organs are missing, who took them, and where. This is a long and protracted process of accountability at Shakahola,” said Kindiki.
According to Kindiki, the post-mortem exercise will begin immediately and would take a week to be concluded.

At the same time, Kindiki revealed that a commission of inquiry has been set up to probe the Shakahola deaths and recommend action on public officials who might have slept of their jobs.
"The commission of inquiry will make recommendations on action that must be taken on any public officer whose action, inaction, failure or outright negligence could have caused the deaths of our people,” Kindiki stated.
This comes days after Interior CS stated that the government would reshuffle police commanders in Kilifi County in a move to show the public that the government is working to ensure justice is served.
Kindiki argued that the police bosses who ought to have received reports on the Shakahola cult earlier cannot be part of the team doing investigations.
