Former Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has admitted to being with Former Citizen TV journalist Jackie Maribe on the very day businesswoman Monica Kimani was murdered.
Maribe in his defence told the court on Thursday that he was with Sonko the day Kimani was killed at her Lamuria Apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi.
In a statement on social media, Sonko agreed with the revelation of Maribe at the court of law saying he is ready to speak the truth about the matter.
He said on that very day, he was having an interview at Citizen Tv in the company of his allies among them Maribe who then worked at the station.
Maribe had revealed that Sonko had asked him to wait for him until the interview ends.

"On this matter, if I'm summoned by the court, I’ll tell the truth and nothing but the truth. Na kwa mukhtasari tu I'm not the type of friend who disowns his friends at times of trouble," Sonko said.
"It is true that l was with Jackie Maribe at Citizen TV when I was being interviewed on the JKL show on the 19th of September 2018, from about 9:45 pm. I was accompanied by Chela Ruto, Hon. Juju, Hon. Nancy, Hon. Anita and other male friends by then Odhis, Show, Swaleh, and Pinye, among others."
Sonko further said:
"After the show, I volunteered to take all those who were with me for kamvinyo and nyama choma kule Club forty."
Sonko however said he did not know Jowie Irungu adding that he has the CCTV footage of that day's events.
Maribe had said that Jowie joined them at the club on the same night.
" Since hii Mushene was there from the day Jackie was arrested, I managed to download the CCTV ya the club. Iko. However, I do not know Jowie Irungu, and I don't support his actions at all on that material day, and if it'd true he murdered Monica Kimani, let the law take its course. That's all I wish to state."
