President William Ruto has explained the reason why he has lost weight months after winning the August 9, 2022, Presidential election.
Speaking in a round table meeting with members of the press on Sunday, May 14, Ruto explained the weight loss journey was deliberate for him.
He explained that he had gained lots of weight during the campaign since he could not get time to exercise.
As a result, he said he at some point consumed more food than required.
"We went into elections and when you have elections you have a lot of pressure and sometimes you take out the pressure on food and you don’t have time to go and exercise," Ruto said.

The explanation came in the wake of concerns among Kenyans that the President was losing weight drastically.
A section of Kenyans took to social media to compare his current image to that of the past with others alleging he could be having health issues.
Ruto, however, in the media interview on Sunday at State House, Nairobi, said he is in good shape healthwise.
He said his decision to cut weight was fuelled by his desire to be alert and respond swiftly to the task at hand of leading the nation.
" I decided to cut it down because ile kibarua niko nayo si kidogo," he said.
