South Mugirango MP and National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro now says the Finance Bill 2023 will be amended in line with key concerns raised by Kenyans.
The MP had earlier said the Bill will sail through the way it is.
“I am the majority whip in the National Assembly and my responsibility is to push government business in the house,” the lawmaker said earlier.
But in an interview with Citizen TV on Monday morning, the MP said while he is keen on ensuring the Bill passes once it lands in parliament, they will accommodate some amendments to reflect the concerns raised by Kenyans.

“We’re still collecting views from all relevant stakeholders. It’s not cast in stone that we will not amend some proposals that have been raised by different stakeholders. We will amend them,” he said.
Osoro added that they will consider the opinions of various stakeholders in drafting the final Bill that will land on the floor of the house for debate and subsequent voting.
"When you hear different sectors proposing some changes, we're not going to throw them under the bus, it's part of the process," Osoro said.
The Finance Bill 2023 has faced major opposition with a section of Kenyans decrying high taxation.
Busia Senator Okiyah Omatatah is among the key personnel who expressed commitment to move to court to oppose it in the event is not amended.
