The Government has withdrawn bodyguards attached to Azimio principals Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka ahead of the planned anti-government protests.
All the bodyguards attached to Odinga guarding his homes in Nairobi and Kisumu Counties have been recalled.
This comes hours after Odinga on Sunday alleged that the Kenya Kwanza government has formed a new well-trained police unit to deal with anti-government protests and Azimio la Umoja leaders.
Raila said that the unit under the name Operations Support Unit (OSU) was spotted on Wednesday last week during the Azimio protests in Kamukunji, Mlolongo, and Jogoo Road.
“This time around, it is not just the official security officers that are being unleashed on Kenyans. Kenya Kwanza has embedded a trained killer squad in the name of Operation Support Unit into the official security agencies and unleashed it on Kenyans.

“OSU, now under Mr. Kariuki, was disbanded a few years ago and its members sent home. The squad is back. Last Wednesday, OSU was in action in Kamkunji, Jogoo Road, and Mlolongo, firing at protesters and killing some,” Raila alleged.
Despite the withdrawal, the Former Prime Minister remained defiant urging his supporters to turn out in large numbers on Wednesday.
"Starting on Wednesday, be ready for the game-changing Maandamano," Odinga tweeted.
At the same time, the Leader of the Minority Oipyo Wandayi has disclosed that the security of about 50 Azimio MPs has been withdrawn with no notice.
"Their security detail was withdrawn with no notice and no one gives you an explanation," Wandayi stated.
