A Kenya Defense Officer has been arrested attempting to detonate a grenade at the compound of his ex-wife.

The officer based at a Mandera's para unit was arrested by the DCI Betula detectives while in the process of detonating the grenade in Bumala.

The arrest came after detectives were informed about the incident, and swung into action where it was established that Sergeant Denis Ochieng who had separated from his wife, visited her home in Marachi and demanded to be given their children.

When he was asked to wait for the wife's parents, he removed the grenade from his pocket and left it on the ground then ran away.

Reports indicate that after the grenade failed to detonate, he took it and disposed it off at a nearby river.
