The main suspect in the murder of former Nairobi Hospital Acting Finance Director Eric Maigo is not a minor, an age assessment carried out at Mathare Hospital has revealed.
The suspect, Ann Adhiambo Akinyi, has also been found to be mentally fit to stand murder trial.
The age and mental assessment report identified the suspect as a Kenyan adult of sound mind. The assessment established that Akinyi could be aged between 20 and 21.
Akinyi was first present before the court on September 27, on a miscellaneous application during which police were granted 21 days to hold her pending the conclusion of the probe.
The assessment report will be presented in court after the lapse of 21 days accorded to the prosecution to detain her.

She is expected back in court on October 28.
The suspect was captured in a CCTV footage before detectives linked her to the murder of Maigo.
She was arrested in the Kibera slums, Nairobi. on September 26, in an intelligence-led operation by Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) detectives.
Maigo's lifeless body was found in a pool of blood on September 15. Officials confirmed he was stabbed 25 times. The motive is yet to be known.
He was laid to rest at his home in Keumbu Kisii County on September 29.
