President William Ruto's speech at Kericho Green Stadium on Friday during the Mashujaa Day Celebrations singled out Samuel Ng'etich Kipsoi for praise.
Ruto in his speech said Kipsoi, a prominent businessman believed to have dropped out of school at class three, was a true embodiment of the bottom-up story.
"We also celebrate Mzee Samuel Kipsoi Ngetich Chepsetyon, an incredible entrepreneur who exemplifies the bottom-up story. A class 3 dropout, he pulled himself up through sheer determination, to set up the Kipchimchim Group of Companies, whose interests span various industries and employ thousands of Kenyans," the President stated in his speech.
"Before his untimely death, he was working at the West Valley Sugar Company and began milling operations last week. Fare the well Mzee Samuel Kipsoi Ngetich Chepsetyon."

Born in 1949, Kipsoi was a prominent businessman, a politician and a community pillar who passed on in August 2022.
He began making money by digging pt latrines, and weeding maize and tea plantations in Kericho before he entered into the tea business which saw him build an empire.
He rose ranks to become a councillor and the first member of the county Assembly (MCA) for Kapkugerwet ward in Belgut, Kericho county. He was described as a hardworking entrepreneur who strived to see his business empire thrive.
His business interests were huge.
They included the Mbogo Valley tea factory, Sangalo tea factory, Bureti tea, SABS mining, West Valley Sugar, Kipchimat enterprises, and Kipchimchim wholesalers among others.
The late multi-million businessman is celebrated for contributing to the growth of the economy in the country through his business ventures.
