President Uhuru Kenyatta has hit out at ex-Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko stating that he did nothing for Nairobians during his time in office.

Speaking on Monday during an interview with a number of vernacular radio stations, Uhuru noted that he played a vital role in Sonko’s election but was disappointed with the level of service delivery during the latter’s regime.

He hailed the Nairobi Metropolitan Service (NMS) under the leadership of Major General Mohammed Badi for enhancing service delivery in the city.

According to Uhuru, Nairobi is in a better state thanks to the NMS.

“I helped this young man (Sonko) get that seat. Instead of working, he was up and about, doing nothing. Just look at his replacement; he has opened roads in Industrial Area, among other development projects," he divulged.

Following his impeachment, Sonko joined the Hustler Movement and started attacking the President alongside other leaders.

Responding to these attacks, President Kenyatta noted that his silence should not be mistaken for weakness.

“They insult me perhaps thinking I will send policemen their way. Let them continue but they should know just because a lion has been rained on does not make it a cat," he said.
