Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday, November 6, convened a meeting with Kiambu leaders that was attended by the Governor, Deputy Governor, Senator, Members of Parliament, and Members of the County Assembly (MCAs).
The meeting was convened on the backdrop of a looming impeachment against Kiambu Governor Kimani Wamatangi.
The Deputy President noted that the meeting was important in trying to address the leadership wrangles in the County and finding a solution for all the parties.
Gachagua called for sobriety in tackling the issues raised by the different leaders during the meeting on Monday.
"Today, I held intensive engagements separately and jointly with the political leadership of Kiambu County. We were unanimous that the County has issues that are solvable.

"The commitment of the leaders today to solve their issues for the good of the people of Kiambu County is commendable. I urge sobriety on the way forward on all the matters raised by the parties in the timelines agreed upon," he stated.
A section of MCAs led by Kikuyu Ward MCA Kamau Boro had threatened to impeach Wamatangi within 21 days claiming he was running the affairs of the County as a lone ranger.
However, another section led by Kamenu ward MCA Peter Mburu defended Governor Wamatangi adding that they were unwilling to take the impeachment path.
"In the light of a statement made by some of our colleagues regarding a potential impeachment, we the undersigned members of county assembly firmly assert that Kiambu is not prepared for the removal of the Governor from office," remarked Mburu.
