Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Monday made an impromptu visit to UDA party Headquarters in Nairobi.
In a statement after the visit, Gachagua said he met the party secretariat during which he expressed satisfaction with the State of the Affairs in the party.
Gachagua said the visit was to assess the State of preparedness ahead of the UDA party primaries in April 2024.
“Ahead of the UDA Party primaries scheduled for the year 2024, I made an impromptu inspection visit to the Party Headquarters in Nairobi this afternoon. The party is set for elections as envisaged,” Gachagua said.

“I commend the Secretariat for the great work they have done towards running the party.”
UDA party on November 18 suspended its primaries which were scheduled for December.
This followed a National Steering Council (NSC) meeting held chaired by President William Ruto at State House Nairobi.
“Following a National Steering Council (NSC) meeting held on 18th November 2023, and chaired by the Party Leader William Ruto. The United Democratic Alliance party (UDA) wishes to notify all members and aspirants that the grassroots elections initially scheduled for December 9th 2023 have been postponed,” UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala stated.
The ruling party members interested in the leadership positions to continue registering before the window closes on March 22, 2024.
“The elections will be staggered into three clusters, taking place on 12th, 19th and 26th April 2024. A detailed schedule outlining county clusters will be released in due course,” he noted.
