A trailer killed five people on the spot at the Kikopey trading centre along the Gilgil-Nakuru highway on Sunday night December 3.
According to a National Police Service (NPS) statement, the driver of the said trailer lost control of the vehicle before hitting two pedestrians who died on the spot.
The trailer then veered off the road hitting structures erected along the highway where three others were killed.
NPS noted that the three were rammed over while playing a pool table game.

"Preliminary reports suggest that the driver who was heading towards Nakuru direction lost control and hit two male adult pedestrians killing them on the spot," a police report released on Monday, December 4 read in part.
"The same vehicle rammed onto iron sheet structures a few metres from the road killing three male adult persons who were inside playing pool table game. The same trailer caused massive damage to property, including three motor vehicles that were at a yard; a Land Rover, Peugeot 405 and Isuzu Tropper," it added.
The driver however fled from the accident scene.
"Efforts to arrest the driver of the ill-fated vehicle are underway after he escaped the scene of the accident," NPS announced.
To curb road accidents in the country, Transport CS Kipchumba Murkomen announced a nationwide crackdown on public service vehicles.
This was after the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) revealed that 3,609 people lost their lives in road accidents in 2023.
