Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu has hinted that his ministry will do away with the use of SMS to access KCSE results.
Speaking on Thursday, December 7 while appearing before the National Assembly Education Committee, Machogu said the move is a result of the system hitches in the recently released KCPE results.
“As the ministry, everything was right, an outsider who was given the contract did not conform and do to the required standards, moving forward when we release the KCSE examination, it means we will not be able to use the service provider,” said Machogu.
The Education CS disclosed that he has already engaged ICT experts to develop a portal where the public will be able to access the KCSE results free of charge.

“I am already engaging ICT we see whether we can be able to develop a website that members of the public can be able to access free of charge. When we release our KCSE anytime soon,” Machogu stated.
He however noted that school portals are the most reliable source as the Ministry of Education transmits results to the portal directly for school heads to access.
“The school portals are the most reliable source because immediately the results are transmitted, the principal and parents can be able to access them," CS Machogu added.
