Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka now claims that President William Ruto’s recent attacks on the judiciary are an attempt to influence the ruling on the Housing Levy.
In a statement on Friday, January 12, Kalonzo the President’s attacks on the judiciary are an attempt to undermine democracy.
The former vice president called on Kenyans to be vigilant and protect the judiciary’s independence.
“The sustained aggression by the Executive on the Judiciary is an affront to our democracy and we all must loudly condemn these actions. We also believe that this intimidation is an attempt to influence the decision on the Housing Tax currently in the courts. We must remain vigilant and protect the independence of our Judiciary,” Kalonzo stated.
The Wiper leader’s statement comes after he joined the Law Society of Kenya (LSK) members at the Supreme Court in Nairobi to protest against President Ruto over his sustained attacks against the Judiciary.

Kalonzo showed up wearing full legal regalia including the traditional robes and blonde judicial wig.
President Ruto has been accusing some judges and judicial officials of being beneficiaries of graft and sabotaging his legacy projects, Universal Health Care and Affordable Housing.
The Head of State vowed to deal with deal with corruption in the Judiciary saying its independence should not be used to deny Kenyans their rights.
However, Chief Justice Martha Koome defended the Judiciary noting that the trend of attacking and criticizing judges in public in ongoing cases is a way of intimidating them.
CJ Koome earlier announced that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) is ready to deal with complaints against corrupt judicial officers and judges.
She pointed out that JSC will only act on the complaints based on the evidence provided.
“I reiterate the stance by the Judicial Service Commission that we are ready to process any complaints against any judge or judicial officer who is implicated in corruption or any acts of misconduct and state we abhor corruption in all its formats be it bribery which is indeed a crime,” said Koome.
