Explaining what transpired, the area OCPD indicated that the suspect died of suicide as he was found dangling in a rope.
"He was locked in the cell and after a short while, police officers at the station stated that they found him dead. They failed to understand how he got the ropes he used to commit the act," the OCPD stated.
However, residents called on the probe into what really happened after the suspect was apprehended. They blamed the police for failing to properly check the suspect before locking him up.
"We really don't understand what happened because the police are expected to properly frisk suspects before locking them in a cell," one of the residents stated.
The officers were thus compelled to call for reinforcement before transferring the body of the deceased to the mortuary.
According to the police report, the 22-year-old was arrested after rape allegations were levelled before him.
The irate residents, on the other hand, wanted justice to be served following the arrest of the suspect.
