The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has lauded Samburu County’s Archers Post Police Station Officer Commanding Station (OCS) Andrew Nyabicha after he turned down a Ksh 80,000 bribe offered to him by three individuals.
In a statement on Saturday, March 2, EACC said the three individuals were seeking the release of their kin Mohamed Musdaf Mahamad, a robbery and human trafficking suspect.
Nyabicha reported the matter to EACC and facilitated the arrest of the suspects by the Commission.
“EACC commends the OCS for the exemplary action of refusing to compromise national security at the altar of greed and personal interest. This is what is expected of all police officers in the country, as part of the much-needed collective effort to weed out corruption from police operations,” read the statement in part.
The three arrested individuals include; George Guyo, Hassan Sheikh Mohamed, and Mohamed Maalim Abass.

According to EACC, the trio were processed at EACC Upper Eastern Regional Office in Isiolo and released on bail pending arraignment after completion of the investigation process.
The suspect whom the three wanted to be released from police custody is accused of robbing three Ethiopian female nationals on February 23, 2024, when he was smuggling them into the country.
He is alleged to have diverted a vehicle he was driving to a thicket, robbed the foreigners of their mobile phones, money, and other personal belongings, and drove away to Nairobi.
The three foreigners were reportedly rescued by a good Samaritan who notified police.
