Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on Monday, March 11 attended the inaugural strategic reflection meeting on the Tigray-Ethiopia peace deal at the African Union Commission Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
In a statement, Uhuru’s office said the high-level meeting was aimed at strengthening the implementation of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement.
“H.E Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, C.G.H, Fourth President of the Republic of Kenya, EAC Facilitator for the Nairobi Peace Process on the Peace and Stability in the Eastern DRC, AU-Kenya Peace Envoy on Tigray - Ethiopia, today participated in the inaugural strategic reflection meeting at the AUC Headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia,” read the statement in part.
The meeting also focused on mobilizing support for crucial aspects of the Ethiopian Peace Process such as humanitarian assistance, Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration (DDR), and the rehabilitation and reconstruction of the region.

“The strategic reflection meeting on the #COHA implementation brought together representatives from the Government of Ethiopia, the TPLF, members of the AU High-Level Panel on Ethiopia, as well as partners including IGAD, UN, EU, AfDB, US, and the AU Commission,” the statement added.
Other officials who attended the high-level meeting were; former Nigerian President and AU High Representative for the Horn of Africa, Olusegun Obasanjo, and Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace, and Security, Ambassador Bankole Adeoye.
