Kenyatta National Hospital has issued a notice over unclaimed bodies at their various farewell homes.
The National Hospital indicated that 541 dead bodies have not been claimed causing congestion at their various facilities.
According to the notice, they include babies, mothers and other people who died and are at their various farewell homes.
To allow maximum operation, Kenyatta National Hospital has published the names of all the dead people and asked the owners to collect them.
Failure to pick up the bodies in the next seven days, Kenyatta National Hospital has vowed to seek court orders and then dispose of them.

"Kenyatta National Hospital is in possession of a number of unclaimed bodies at its Farewell Home. Pursuant to Public Health Act Cap 242 [Subsidiary Legislation PUBLIC HEALTH (PUBLIC MORTUARIES) RULES,1991], interested members of the public are therefore requested to identify and collect the bodies within 7 days, failure to which the hospital will seek authority from the courts to dispose them," KNH made it clear.
In the disposal process, the bodies are buried in mass graves at sites allocated by the government.
The move is aimed at reducing the pressure at the National Hospital which deals with thousands of patients daily.
Reports allege that some of the bodies are left at the National Hospital due to huge bills accrued while others are neglected by members.
