Deputy President William Ruto’ s UDA brigade on Saturday clashed with leaders allied to the Amani National Congress party over planned impeachment of the second in command.
Speaking at a funeral at Enjinja village in Matungu Constituency, DP Ruto’s allies hit out at Lugari MP Ayub Savula for orchestrating the latter’s impeachment plans.
Former Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa cautioned Savula against disrespecting DP Ruto. He accused Savula of playing dirty and revisited claims that Savula was involved in the downfall of Mumias Sugar company.
Soy Member of Parliament Caleb Kositany picked up from Echesa, noting that Savula and his team lack enough numbers to oust Ruto.
“If you look at the party that wants to impeach Deputy President William Ruto, it has few MPs that can’t reach the two-third threshold required… Where will they get the additional members to meet the required 233 MPs capable of sending DP Ruto home?” the MP posed.

On his part, Savula chose to take DP Ruto head on noting that he’ll continue pushing for his ouster.
He urged the DP to shelve his 2022 presidential bid and back ANC Leader Musalia Mudavadi.
“We have had other tribes in power and now it is time for the Luhya community to lead, you Ruto should support Mudavadi in 2022,” he said.
When he took to the podium, the DP ignored the impeachment motion and focused on preaching the hustler ideology.
“I know many people around here are hustlers who are looking to make ends meet, that is why I am telling you that we need to invest in them,” said Ruto.
Following the attack on Savula and the ANC party, the DP and his team had a tough time selling the UDA aspirant in the upcoming Matungu mini poll.
His bid to introduce and campaign for UDA’s Alex Lanya was faced by resistance as the area is a strong ANC zone.
