The Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) has cautioned the public over fraudsters claiming to offer KCPE, KCSE certificate upgrades and replacing lost ones.
In a post on Monday, May 27, KNEC flagged a post which purported to offer the services through joining a WhatsApp group.
The examinations council advised the public not to fall prey to the fraudsters, maintaining that it only communicates through its official social media pages and website.
"Fake post alert! Please do not fall prey to fraudsters claiming to be KNEC agents. KNEC only communicates through its official social media pages and website. Kaa chonjo!" KNEC stated.
On Thursday last week, the examinations council advised the public on the process of replacing lost certificates.

KNEC asked those seeking to replace their certificates to visit its Query Management Information System (QMIS) portal (https://qmis.kne.ac.ke) and follow the guidelines there.
A copy of the lost certificate or result slip, copy of ID, passport size photo, police abstract and a confirmation from the registrar of persons were required.
The confirmation from the registrar of person is available at the NSSF building, Nairobi on the 7th floor.
A payment of Ksh5,220 was required once the application for the replacement on the portal was successful.
"Keep checking on the system to the status of the application. Once the process is complete, you will receive an SMS notification to collect your certification letter from the KNEC offices," KNEC said in a notice.
The examinations council reiterated that it had automated the process of submitting examination related queries through visiting the QMIS portal.
