The Ministry of Education has announced a change in the half-term dates for pre-primary, primary, and secondary schools.

In a letter to county education directors dated, May 24, Basic Education PS Dr. Belio Kipsang stated that the new dates will be from June 26–June 28, as opposed to the earlier dates, which were June 20–June 23.

Kipsang noted that the change was brought about due to the disruption of the reopening dates for Term Two.

"Following the disruption of opening dates, it has been decided that the Half-Term dates for Term Two, 2024 be revised as follows; original dates: June 20th–23rd; new dates: 26th-28th June 2024," Kipsang stated.

The PS further disclosed that learners in boarding schools will be expected to report back to school on June 30.

He directed the county education directors to communicate the update to all school head teachers and principals under their jurisdiction.

"The change may require adjustments on planned activities and schedules. You are therefore directed to communicate the content of this circular to all Head Teachers and Principals of schools under your jurisdiction," Kipsang remarked.

Schools reopened for Term Two on Monday, May 13, a week after President William Ruto had ordered the postponement of reopening.

This was due to the flooding that was being experienced in many parts of the country due to heavy rainfall, rendering some schools inhabitable.
