A Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) tanker on Monday, May 3, burst into flames along the Outering Road near the Fedha Estate in Nairobi.

A 14-seater Embassava matatu which was near the LPG tanker was burnt to bare metal.

A section of the residents in the area could be seen evacuating from the scene for their safety.

Firefighters from Nairobi County arrived at the scene and helped in extinguishing the fire.

Two people were reportedly injured following the incident. No deaths have been reported.

The authorities are yet to establish the cause of the tanker explosion.

The incident comes months after another gas explosion in Embakasi's Mradi area killed six people and left more than 270 others seriously injured.

The gas explosion occurred after a truck carrying gas exploded, causing a huge fire that quickly spread to nearby areas.

Vehicles parked near the site of the explosion and several businesses were also destroyed in the huge inferno.

Following the incident, President William Ruto ordered the arrest and prosecution of government officials linked to the incident.

Nairobi Governor Johson Sakaja ordered an immediate operation to shut down gas plants operating in residential areas.
