Kenyans took to the streets again on Tuesday for another round of protests against the government.

Kenyans returned to the streets on Tuesday, July 23 for another round of anti-government protests.

Nairobi's Central Business District (CBD) was relatively calm in the morning before two groups of boda boda riders clashed.

The chaos erupted after pro-government boda boda operators protested across the city, calling on Kenyans to give President William Ruto time, but were met by their anti-government counterparts.

One boda boda operator was injured in the violence and his motorcycle was set on fire. Police were forced to fire tear gas to disperse the crowd. Another section of protestors matched from Archives to Kimathi Street while chanting ‘Ruto must go’.

There was a heavy police presence at strategic points on the roads leading to State House Nairobi, including State House Road, Dennis Pritt Road, and Processional Way.

On Outering Road, a few meters from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), a crowd of protesters barricaded the busy road with stones, making it impassable.

Police from the General Service Unit (GSU) dispersed the protesters, firing teargas canisters at them.

There was also a heavy military presence at one of the entrances to JKIA along the outlying road.



In Kitengela town, protesters threw stones at police, prompting them to fire teargas to disperse the demonstrations. There was another group of youths allegedly hired by local businesses to protect them from being looted.

In Karatina town, Nyeri County, protesters barricaded the busy Karatina-Naiorbi highway and burnt tyres on the road. Pro-government boda boda riders also clashed with protesters in Karatina tow, leaving two people injured.

Protesters also turned out in Kisumu to show their displeasure with the Kenya Kwanza government, marching along Kenyatta Avenue. A contingent of anti-riot police was deployed to prevent the protesters from storming the Kisumu CBD.

In Migori town, youthful anti-government protesters blocked the Isebania-Migori-Awendo highway, forcing police to intervene and disperse them.

In Mombasa, police fired tear gas to disperse anti-government protesters from Moi Avenue in Mombasa CBD. The protesters came with vuvuzelas and chanted anti-government songs.

The anti-governemnt protests were also witnessed in Kisii, Homa Bay and Imara Daima.
