The case involving a 16-year-old boy believed to be Kenyan has taken a new twist as authorities investigate how he ended up at Maastricht Aachen Airport in Holland in the wheel arch of a cargo plane.
The minor was taken to the hospital and has now been discharged. However, a new statement from Dutch authorities has introduced a new twist to what was initially thought of as a normal stowaway case.
Authorities are now looking into the human trafficking angle in a bid to resolve the matter.
“The Marechaussee in Limburg is conducting further investigations into, among other things, possible human smuggling in connection with the stowaway found at Maastricht Aachen Airport near the landing gear of an aircraft.
The minor who is currently being interrogated by police in Holland was released from the hospital over the weekend after he was said to be in a stable condition. He had been rushed to the hospital after the incident with symptoms of hypothermia.
He had been found clinging to the Turkish Airplane of number TK6305, which is operated by the Turkish Airlines Airbus A330-200 that had on Wednesday last week flown from the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to London via Istanbul.
Data from RadarBox.com revealed that the flight departed from Stansted Airport at 12:05pm (3.08pm Kenyan time) and the plane climbed to 19,000 feet and landed in Holland 16 minutes later.
Data further reveals the flight never climbed further than the height as it took a few minutes before it landed and just in case it went any higher than that then the minor could have not survived.
