The incident comes a few days after four people were killed following a fire at Toi Market in Kibra.

Several families have been left homeless after fire broke out at Mashimoni area in Kibra, Nairobi, on Wednesday night, August 14, razing down dozens of houses. 

In an update by the Kenya Red Cross, the fire broke out at around 11:35 p.m. and response teams were dispatched to the area.

"Incident Alert at 11:35 PM: A fire incident has been reported at Mashimoni, Kibra in Nairobi County. Nairobi City County fire is en route. Our Community-Based Disaster Response Team (CBDRT) activated," Kenya Red Cross stated.

Moments later, the humanitarian organisation disclosed that the fire had been contained with the help of community members, the KDF, and the Nairobi County Fire and Emergency team.

"The fire has been contained with the support of the Nairobi City County Fire and Emergency team, community members and the Kenya Defence ForcesOur thoughts are with everyone affected by the fire. Our team will conduct an assessment at sunrise to identify the key needs and priorities of those impacted," Kenya Red Cross remarked.

No fatalities were reported from the fire at the time of publishing this article.

The incident comes a few days after four people were killed and property of unknown value destroyed following a fire at Toi Market in Kibra on Saturday, August 3.

The four victims were attempting to save their property in the market when they were overpowered by the inferno.
