Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations Anti-Narcotics Unit have launched a manhunt for a suspect who escaped arrest in Malindi and abandoned bhang worth Ksh2.5 million.
In a statement on Monday, August 19, the suspect, Morris Ware, went large after the detectives raided his store in Kilifi County following reports from the public over his involvement in illegal business.
"Detectives from the Anti-Narcotics Unit stationed at Malindi Police Station are actively pursuing Morris Ware, a trafficker who managed to evade capture, in a Sh2.5 million cannabis seizure.
"Following reports from members of the public about the suspect's engagement in illegal dealings, officers launched a raid at his store in Midodoni village. However, the suspect got away after spotting the officers leaving his store unattended," DCI stated.

At the store, the detectives seized 86 kilogrammes of bhang stashed in four sacks, with an estimated street value of Sh2.5 million.
The recovered narcotics were taken into custody at the Malindi Police Station as the search for the suspect continued.
DCI urged members of the public to volunteer any information on suspicious activities to aid it in its efforts of ensuring a drug-free envirinemnt.
"The Directorate of Criminal Investigations urges members of the Public to volunteer information on suspicious characters or activities to ensure a safe and secure drug-free environment for all citizens," DCI remarked.
