Kang'ata's Advice to Wamatangi as he Takes over Senate Majority Whip Post

Ousted Senate Majority whip Senator Irungu Kanga’ata has shared words of encouragement to his successor Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi as he is set to officially take over the post today.

Speaking during an interview on Tuesday night, Kang’ata urged Wamatangi to be courageous and bold in his service as Senate Majority Whip.

He vowed to support any good agenda that the government brings to the State through Wamatangi and other Senate leaders.

“Take courage I will definitely support any good agenda that will be brought to the Senate by the government,” he said.

Senator Kang’ata was removed on Tuesday from the Senate Majority Whip position during a Parliamentary group meeting held at KICC.

In an announcement on Tuesday, Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju noted that Kang'ata will be replaced by Senator Wamatangi.

During the presser, Tuju dismissed claims that Kang'ata was removed over his letter to President Uhuru Kenyatta on the popularity of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) in the Mt Kenya region.

According to Tuju, Senator Kang'ata has every right to make his opinion known on matters of public interest, however, there are channels to be followed when addressing the party leadership.

"They have a right to be heard. Sen. Kang’ata has tried to give the impression that the reason why he’s being released of his responsibility has something to do with the letter he wrote the president which is not true. The manner in which he did it was wrong. There are ways of addressing issues with decorum when you want to talk to the leadership of the party," Tuju said while announcing the ouster.

Kang'ata now joins Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen and Nakuru's Susan Kihika who suffered the same fate a few months ago.
