The JKIA-Adani deal has been criticised by leaders across the political divide.

The Senate Committee on Transport has directed Transport Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir to submit all documents on the JKIA-Adani deal.

In a session held at the Senate on Thursday, September 13, the CS was directed to submit the relevant documents between the government and Adani Group before the close of business today.

The committee explained that the documents would help address some of the concerns raised by Kenyans and members of the committee.

Additionally, the CS was directed to appear before the committee on Friday, September 13 to answer to questions pertaining the deal.

"The Senate Committee on Roads met with Transport CS Davis Chirchir to deliberate on the plans by the Government to lease JKIA to Adani," the Senate's statement read in part.

"Senators instructed the CS to submit a response to the issues raised by the closure of business today and rescheduled the meeting to tomorrow."

On the other hand, Senator Richard Onyonka revealed that the CS had failed to give satisfactory answers during the Thursday meeting, hence the move to push the meeting to Friday.

"The CS Roads and Transport Davis Chirchir tried to play the subjudice card which the Senate overruled. The meeting has been adjourned and ordered to submit all documents on the JKIA- Adani PIIP by the end of the close of business today, he will appear again tomorrow (Friday) at 9 am," the senator claimed.

The JKIA-Adani deal has been criticised by leaders across the political divide. Kenyans have also questioned the secrecy shrouding the deal.

Airport workers also downed their tools on Tuesday night. However, the strike was called off hours later after the government held talks with their officials.

Meanwhile, the government has insisted that the deal is still a proposal and has not been finalised.
