Premium class passengers will access VIP lounges and be prioritised during boarding and disembarking.

Kenya Railways has announced that it will be launching the SGR premium services on Wednesday, October 2.

According to the schedule, the inaugural trip for the services being charged at Ksh12,000 will be at 3 pm.

Kenyans seeking to enjoy the inaugural trio to Mombasa were advised to book the premium tickets online.

"We are introducing premium class onto Madaraka Express from October 2, 2024, from Nairobi Terminus to Mombasa Terminus.

The premium class will have seats that are more comfortable and can to fully reclined. The seats will also have enough legroom for passengers.

"Segregated from other compartments, the premium coach offers privacy and exclusivity ensuring passengers can work, relax or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery," the corporation announced.

"Premium Class passengers will have access to VIP lounges and benefit from priority boarding and disembarkation at terminals, adding to the already existing convenience to their journey."

Following the premium services, the corporation will be offering three classes on the SGR trains. The other two include First class which is charged at Ksh4,500 and economy class which is Ksh1,500.
