Wiper said the party opposes the proposed impeachment motion against the Deputy President.

Wiper Democratic Movement has clarified that Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse is not a member of their party.

In a statement on Tuesday, October 1, shortly after Mutuse tabled a motion calling for Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's impeachment, the party said the MP is a member of the Maendeleo Chap Chap Party.

"Mutuse is a member of Maendeleo Chap Chap Party associated with Cabinet Secretary For Labor and Social Protection Dr. Alfred Mutua.

"This distinction is important in understanding the political alignments and affiliations in Kenya," Wiper Party said in a statement.

Wiper also emphasised that the party opposes the proposed impeachment motion against the Deputy President.

Elsewhere, Mutua voiced his support for the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

In a statement on X on Tuesday, October 1, the CS explained that the several remarks made by the DP on Mt Kenya did not support the spirit of unity in the country.

He described Gachagua as a rogue DP, insisting that the impeachment was not about politics.

"The curse of Africa has always been tribalism and corruption. Today’s Kenya cannot be taken back. We are one country, one people and it will remain so. That is why this motion for the impeachment of rogue Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, is not about politics but about saving Kenya’s soul. That is the reason it is supported by diverse political parties - from the parties of Kenya Kwanza to Azimio parties such as ODM and even by members of the Wiper Party.

"Stirring an insurrection and violence, enslaving Kenyans with corrupt deals and attempting a coup are despicable actions that no leader should be allowed to get away with. They go against the ethos of what we stand for as Maendeleo Chap Chap party and as members of the ruling coalition. Kenya deserves better," the statement read.
