The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has set October 12 as the deadline for the registration of Kenyans in Lebanon who wish to be evacuated as the war escalates in the Middle East.
In a statement on Tuesday, October 1, the State Department of Diaspora Affairs noted that all Kenyans wishing to be evacuated from Lebanon must register before the deadline.
The state department expressed concern that several Kenyans in the Middle Eastern nation have not yet registered for evacuation.
"The government of Kenya wishes to confirm that we continue to prioritise the safety of all Kenyan nationals currently residing in Lebanon amidst the escalating situation.
"We are deeply concerned that a large number of Kenyans in Lebanon have not yet registered for evacuation despite our repeated calls. The deadline for registration is 12th October 2024. Any Kenyan who wishes to be evacuated must ensure that their registration is completed before this date," read part of the statement.

"To ensure the safety and timely evacuation of all our citizens, we urge all Kenyans in Lebanon to immediately register with us. Only registered Kenyans will be eligible for evacuation," the State Department for Diaspora Affairs explained.
It disclosed that the government has already successfully evacuated two groups of Kenyans from Lebanon and reiterated its efforts to ensure every Kenyan in need is safely evacuated.
"The government of Kenya continues to work diligently with international partners and local authorities to secure safe evacuation routes and ensure the well-being of our diaspora."
