ODM Nominated Senator Crystal Asige has been named in the Time 100 Next 2024 list which recognises influential leaders across the world.

In the list that was released on Tuesday, October 2, Asige was recognised for championing the wellbeing of people with liabilities.

In particular, she was celebrated for tabling various motions at the Senate which sought to create equality and address challenges facing people living with disability.

"With every twist and turn, she has charted a course that defies categorization. Since taking office, she has helped pass bills to uplift people with disabilities, including a tax break for parents and caregivers of kids with disabilities, and new support for Kenyan sign language," read the statement in part.

"Senator Asige is a true Renaissance woman, proving what I have always known—being disabled is compatible with an extraordinary life."

On her part, the artist expressed gratitude for being recognised alongside world leaders from various sectors in the world.

"I just want to speak to the underdogs who feel like what they want is impossible. Please, please keep putting one foot in front of the other however dark it might be - I promise, you were made for a time such as this on purpose and for purpose!" she stated.

Asige was also named in the top 100 list alongside Thomas Njeru who is the co-founder and CEO of Pula, a Nairobi-based microinsurance business.
