The summons indicated that the lawmaker was wanted for questioning regarding an alleged plan to mobilize goons to cause chaos during the public participation session on the impeachment motion against Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, scheduled for Friday, October 4.

“Good evening Muheshimiwa, there are serious allegations against you that you are mobilising goons to cause chaos on Friday during public participation on the DP impeachment motion. It is in this regard you are invited to appear at the CCIO Kirinyaga office tomorrow, 3/10/2024, at 1000hrs to shed light on this allegation,” read the summons from Central Regional Criminal Investigation Officer (RCIO) Dr. Abraham Mugambi.

Reacting to the summons, Maina stated, "Surely, the more things change, the more they remain the same. Governments for you."

The lawmaker has been one of the supporters of the deputy president during the speculations on his impeachment before the motion was eventually tabled in Parliament.

On Tuesday, October 2, the National Assembly invited Kenyans to submit their views on the impeachment motion by sending their views via email to [email protected] before October 5.

Similarly, the views can be forwarded to the Clerk of the National Assembly via P.O. Box 41842-00100 Nairobi or hand delivered to his office at Main Parliament buildings in Nairobi.

Parliament disclosed that public hearings on the motion will be held on Friday, October 4, across all the counties in the country, where the views will be collated.
